What’s Involved In a Boiler Service?

Boiler Services throughout the year are needed to make sure your boiler can run for as long as possible. Often people tend to neglect their boiler and just phone their gas company when there is a major problem but if you have regular boiler services this will minimise the probability of a boiler breakdown. Boilers are supposed to last around ten years and this will be the case if you arrange an annual boiler service.

During a boiler service, people just see the engineer fiddle with the boiler for five minutes and then the engineer will most likely say that everything is ok and leave but you probably wonder what actually happens during this process.

Guide to what happens during your boiler service:

• The engineer will begin by doing a visual check of the surrounding. Then they will go onto looking at the actual flame within the boiler. It should be a distinctive colour and if it isn’t this will be the first problem which the engineer would need to tackle.

• The engineer will go onto opening up the actual boiler to do checks within. They will always lay down a cloth to begin as they want your home to remain clean. Now the interior components and pipe work need to be checked over. If all of this is ok, the interior will be cleaned using a special hover to maintain that all the parts will not be affected by dirt.

• After this process then all of the components will be tested using specialist equipment to make sure that the boiler is working at full potential and efficiency.

• If a fault is found at any stage of the process then the engineer should try and fix the problem there and then so that there is no difficulty caused for the customer.
