Energy Efficiency

With increasing energy bills and a red alert on climate change it is vital that everyone plays their part to be more energy efficient. These Top 10 tips should help you get started:

  1. Something as simple as turning the thermostat down by 1˚C could reduce your heating bills by approximately 10% saving an estimated £55 per annum. Set the heating system to come on and off just when it is required.
  2. Check that the cylinder thermostat is set around 60˚C/140˚F
  3. Check all windows and doors for any drafts
  4. Always switch off lights when you leave a room.
  5. Try not to leave appliances on standby or on charge unnecessarily
  6. Try to wash with full loads only when using washing machines, dishwashers and tumble dryers
  7. Try to only boil as much water as is required
  8. Fix leaking taps and ensure that they are fully turned off when finished.
  9. Switch to energy saving light bulbs

10.  Change your old boiler to a new energy efficient one saving you up to 40% off energy bills per year
