- Something as simple as turning the thermostat down by 1˚C could reduce your heating bills by approximately 10% saving an estimated £55 per annum. Set the heating system to come on and off just when it is required.
- Check that the cylinder thermostat is set around 60˚C/140˚F
- Check all windows and doors for any drafts
- Always switch off lights when you leave a room.
- Try not to leave appliances on standby or on charge unnecessarily
- Try to wash with full loads only when using washing machines, dishwashers and tumble dryers
- Try to only boil as much water as is required
- Fix leaking taps and ensure that they are fully turned off when finished.
